Whether it’s a round on the week-end or the regular weekly match with friends, there is no shortage of courses. Many have been designed by nationally reknown golf architects, some are over a mile high, and some just plain laid back in true southern style. So if golf is what you are looking for, you have found it.

Cycling

Western North Carolina has become known as a premiere destination for cycling enthusiasts of all types. Offering year round riding on some of the world’s most diverse terrain puts us at the top of the list when it comes to cycling on the east coast. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced rider, there is a trail waiting for you. While there are numerous smaller trails to be found, the four largest and main trail systems in western North Carolina are Bent Creek, Tsali, Pisgah and Dupont State Forest. Of course the beautiful scenery of Asheville isn’t limited to mountain bikes. Some of the best rides around are perfect for touring bicycles, whether you’re taking a 50 mile tour on the Blue Ridge Parkway or a short stroll around town this is a must do if you are a biker looking for a new adventure.

Hiking

Whether you’re an avid hiker looking for the most challenging trails or someone just looking for a easy stroll through the park, our mountains and valleys offer something for everyone. With over 750 hiking trails in the Appalachian, Blue Ridge and the Great Smokey Mountains one can experience some of nature’s most beautiful scenery. Natural wonders in Western North Carolina include the highest peak east of the Mississippi, Mt. Mitchell, at 6,684 feet; the oldest stand of virgin timber in the eastern U.S., Joyce Kilmer National Forest with trees more than 2000 years old; 300 waterfalls, including the highest one on the East Coast- White Water Falls; Sliding Rock, a 150- foot natural water slide; and the oldest river in the nation, the New River. In addition to the above, we have numerous state parks, lakes and rivers that contribute to our hikers paradise.
